Reading
The girl may love to read as much as her mom does. Our first chapter book was Little House on the Prairie. Then we read Stuart Little. Now we are reading The Velveteen Rabbit.
The girl is also loving this collection of poems:
I had a copy of this when I was little, so when I saw it at Goodwill I had to grab it! I can’t believe how much the girl loves this book! It’s a little “old fashioned”
I’m amazed that she laughs in the right spots and follows the “older” language. She loves the art, and the one with the boy rolling a hoop in particular.
I guess it makes sense she would love this book. My Nanny gave me my copy. The girl is named after the right person, that’s for sure!
Learning
The girl is learning so much, and recently we have been learning some very grown-up things.
1. Always be kind – share with your friends…
…and only stick out your tongue if you’re catching a snowflake.
2. Winning is fun, but it isn’t necessary.
3. Practice is not always fun…
…but you can be happy with the results!
2012 – What a year!
We started the year with an amazing day watching Snowy Owls! The girl loved using her new binoculars!
The girl started cello lessons, and we discovered she’s a real ham!
We celebrated her 3rd birthday “on the farm”
We enjoyed so many fun times with friends through the year!
The girl was brave as she endured her first surgery of the year and the tethered cord was released.
We celebrated the “release” at the beach!
The girl had fun with soccer and swimming!
The real cello was earned and beautiful music ensued.
Summer was for picnics, camping and toasted marshmallows!
The girl’s imagination bloomed.
We now have an art gallery, and enough art to start new exhibits weekly!
The girl’s colorful personality was perfect for our colorful fall.
We gave thanks for good friends on the West Coast!
We stayed home for Christmas and missed out on the Texas White Christmas. It was sweet anyway!
We sent 2012 out with a bang! We hope that we stay away from hospitals in 2013!!!
Happy New Year! Peace, Joy, and good health to you this year!
