“Dunkin for Apples”

Last week in kindergarten, the girl was learning about buoyancy (well, they didn’t use that word). She learned that punkins can float ecause they have air inside. We filled the tub and put everything from my cheese grater to the the girl’s toy animals in it to see if they would float. I think it was the most fun we have had with homework all year. While we were “studying”, I told the girl about bobbing for apples.

She decided that we were going to dunk for apples this weekend. And so we did…

(This is her expression when she heard our neighbor practicing the saxophone)

As a bonus…

…a little more subdued when she met him.

Field Work

I love being a field biologist, and I love that my girl wants to help me! She has a real eye for the little things.

Snakes migrate this time of year. She’s holding a brown snake above, and we also found a garter snake:

Last weekend she helped me find raccoon latrines.

I love my job, and I love that my girl wants to help me..and that she gets just as excited as me when we see a young Cooper’s hawk, or even just a pretty leaf.

Maybe she will grow up to be an ecologist?
