Playing in our favorite city!
A few bonus shots from our day in the city:
Halloween was really fun this year! The girl wanted to be a cheetah, so I dusted off my costume making skills and came up with this:
The best part was the magnetic tail.
We carved some mean pumpkins!

The squirrels thought that they needed to be meaner, so they changed the design a bit…
The girl wasn’t too happy about it until I convinced her that Cyclops were very scary!
Trick or treating was so much fun, despite the cold wind! Here’s the neighborhood gang!
I wonder what the girl will be next year? Here is her Halloween history:
2014 -cello playing cheetah
2012 – Rocket Girl
2011 – the Parrot and her pirate
2010 – busy bee!
2009 – the cutest caterpillar you’ve ever seen!
Last week in kindergarten, the girl was learning about buoyancy (well, they didn’t use that word). She learned that punkins can float ecause they have air inside. We filled the tub and put everything from my cheese grater to the the girl’s toy animals in it to see if they would float. I think it was the most fun we have had with homework all year. While we were “studying”, I told the girl about bobbing for apples.
She decided that we were going to dunk for apples this weekend. And so we did…
I love being a field biologist, and I love that my girl wants to help me! She has a real eye for the little things.

Snakes migrate this time of year. She’s holding a brown snake above, and we also found a garter snake:

Last weekend she helped me find raccoon latrines.

I love my job, and I love that my girl wants to help me..and that she gets just as excited as me when we see a young Cooper’s hawk, or even just a pretty leaf.
