Book One!

The girl has been practicing for weeks to get ready for today!

There are seventeen pieces in Suzuki book one, and she had to play them all for her book recital. Her Nonnie accompanied her on the piano, and Poppie and our good friends joined us (her mom and dad) to listen.

We were all very proud of her! The girl has learned so many things…but her teacher summed it up today by saying “now you know how to play the cello!”

The girl played her cello for a wedding yesterday. She did such a good job!!! She played come thou fount of every blessing just before the grandparents were seated. Then she played as part of an ensemble. They played/sang You’re beautiful by Phil Wickham. She did great! She had a little solo during the intro, then played along with the chorus for the rest of the piece.

The wedding was in the mountains of Virginia. It was very beautiful. Finding a flat spot for the cellos was the hardest part!!!

The rehearsal was hard for the girl, but I was really proud of how well she listened and worked with the others. She was such a pro!

The wedding was at sunrise, so it was dark (and cold)!!! Tuning was hard…and honestly, no one stayed in tune. The girl wasn’t sure she wanted to play her cello if it wasn’t in tune…I had to convince her that she was close enough.

The music was great, the sun came up, and we were all blessed to see the new start for a wonderful family!

The Graduate

I can’t believe the girl has finished preschool. I must have blinked, because I’m pretty sure she was just starting at sunshine preschool!

Now she’s a graduate!

I’m guessing it will be another blink and she will be finished with school all together:

I guess I better make the most of these precious days!

Fox Party

We had a fantastic party at the arboretum for the girl who loves foxes !!! The kids started with some wildlife tracking! The fresh snow was perfect for some fun and a snowball fight! Inside, the little foxes made a snow globe, traded books and ate cupcakes! We also had a photo booth: Happy Birthday Amazing Girl!!

Happy New Year!

We are very thankful for a healthy 2013, and that Our New Years Eve celebration was at home instead of the ER (like last year). The girl wanted to stay up until midnight, so we gave it a try. Lots of fun with Legos and blocks!

We enjoyed Hot Chocolate and some of the countdown in New York ( though it is NOT family friendly). We decided to celebrate the countdown with the East Coast (changing the clock) just in case we struggled with the last hour!

The last hour was tough (though the Chicago countdown was more reasonable for families). The girl fell asleep at 11:55…and was not happy that we woke her up for the countdown!
