Trying a new sport:
Check out this intensity!
The girl has always kept us on our toes! She is brave, and willing to try anything. At her game on Saturday, the girl kept coming up to bat standing left handed.
She looked fierce, but the coach kept putting her back on the other side of the plate. He told her that if she would show him she could hit Righty, she could try Lefty next at bat. So, that’s just what she did!

He kept his promise! Next at bat she made contact first pitch! It was foul, then she grounded out at first using the T.
Her second at bat as a Lefty, resulted in a base hit off the first pitch!!
Never tell this girl she can’t do something unless you want it done!
She’s a switch-hitter for sure!
England (red) vs. Spain (blue)
The girl’s first soccer game was on Saturday. It was quite the experience. The girl had a terrific time, though to say she played soccer may be an exaggeration. I’m not sure what was going through her head, but maybe it was something like this…
this zombie warm up is awesome! I’m a terrific zombie
here is my ball. Are we playing with mine or yours?
What? We are playing with a real ball?
I know the coach is talking to us, but I have a great idea! We should make sure everyone knows we are on the RED TEAM!!!!
RED TEAM!!!
ok, blue team is after the ball, so I’m going to go this other direction!
I think I’ll try to kick the ball now
now it’s time to remind everyone that I’m on the RED TEAM!!!!
oh, yeah! The red team is awesome!!!
soccer is so much fun!!! I love this sport!!!
The girl’s winning attitude is all the victory we need. (A good thing since it was 8-1, Spain)
The girl loves being outdoors and learning about plants and animals. This mom is so happy that her girl is interested in all things that fly, creep, crawl, and hop.

We had a terrific outdoor weekend with friends and family.

This girl isn’t afraid of any challenge. We had the opportunity to go to a crossfire ministry sporting event. This ministry provides opportunities for young people to learn outdoor sports like fishing and archery. She was determined to try to shoot a bow.

She could be a pretty good shot in a year or two!
Fishing was her real passion (and talent). Here is her first fish!

With a little coaching and encouragement, the girl was fishing in no time! She was casting…

She even learned to safely handle the fish (a grown up removed the hook)

This was a catch and release event!

Everyone had a great time and caught a lot of fish!

The fish were great, but the swing was amazing!!!
The girl has come so far over the past year! We are only two visits away from finishing PT! (We have very mixed emotions because we LOVE her physical therapist and we will miss her).
This weekend was finally beautiful and we spent a lot of time outside. The girl tried her hand at baseball. She was pretty good at it, and got several hits!

She also really surprised me on her bike! We just need to work on finding the brakes, but she’s a speed demon!

This girl is surprising me daily! Her inner athlete is really starting to shine and I’m so thankful!

We have had two very happy days! Soccer has been so much fun!!!

Last night the girl took a master class in marshmallow toasting!

The girl was even all smiles at the dentist!!! No kidding, the kid who freaks over toothpaste let the dentist count her teeth! She even allowed a polish (with no toothpaste, of course)…maybe that doesn’t count?
This is the face of frustration. “Mommy, those kids keep running into me” We are working on having a positive attitude, but it was tough today!
You wouldn’t know it by this photo, but she really did have fun today at soccer camp.
Look who else is grumpy!
This mom is hoping that the girl and the puppy are happy tomorrow!
While she was flat on the couch, the girl would tell me that she wanted a shirt with a number so that she could play soccer. So, we made soccer our goal!
The girl finished her first session of swimming and was promoted to Oskar 2! She also earned her goggles (from Mommy) for putting her face in the water every day, and painted toenails for being a good listener.
Session 2 of swimming started today!
Swimming has helped the girl get stronger, but the goal is to run and play soccer. I thought it would take us until fall to get there, but we’re giving it a try this week.

Lil’ Kickers Soccer started today. This class is for three year olds. It was hard to remember that you aren’t supposed to pick up the ball!

Learning footwork by “planting trees” (for those of you who forget what it’s like to be 3, the cones are trees and they had to get them standing using only their feet). The girl was pretty good at this:

After the trees were planted, the kids were supposed to move the ball through them without knocking them over.

The resulting “clear cut” caused the girl much distress.

Despite the loss of “trees”, the girl had a ton of fun and is excited for tomorrow!
