The girl has been in love with “Rigadoon” since the first time she heard it. She almost cried when her teacher picked it for her recital piece! Today was the day, and she was terrific!
She’s come a log way!

We have read 300 books!

The girl loves books! She’s starting to read, but I think she likes listening to mommy read too much to really show us what she can do. We love reading to her, so when we heard about the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program at our library, we signed up.

We don’t have a lot if time…we started the week after Thanksgiving, and I guess we need to be done before August. We keep a log of the book titles and turn them in at the library when we reach 100 books.
I thought I would also keep a record here! Here are the first 200!!
We will definitely post later about our favorite books!
Recently, I had the privilege of visiting a student in Nicaragua.

While I was learning about agriculture and soil conservation…
...The girl was conducting her own experiments on her ability to digest glass. It turns out, glass marbles can't be digested.

“I think it’s right here”
Guess what the girl’s mom had to do when she returned from her trip…
…yep, search for the marble…
Not fun!
It did make the “science book”
stick mommy, wearing gloves, digging for poop with a pink straw
We never found the marble…
The girl was honored to be the flower girl in the wedding of a good friend yesterday! It was such a beautiful wedding in an amazing grove of bur oaks! She was very excited about her job, and took it as seriously as any 4 year old would!

Well, almost! The rehearsal was a lot of fun. She loved running around in the trees playing “hide and seek”. She also loved throwing dandelion petals to practice!

After the rehearsal the girl and her mom went back to the hotel for a fun sleep-over! She had a chocolate treat (shhh…it was really made of dates and cocoa powder), wore her Lightning McQueen pjs, and watched Cars 2! Kachow!

We slept late the next morning, and took our time getting ready.

The wedding was on a farm/vineyard. It was really hard to not run and play before the wedding! So many trees to hide behind, so much room to run…
The girl enjoyed the typewriters that were used as the guest book. (Best idea ever!!!!)

The ride to the ceremony via tractor and wagon was almost too much! Don’t worry, she didn’t drive!

Somehow we managed to keep the dress clean until the wedding started.

She escaped down the isle as the parents were being seated to bring me a bouquet of sticks and dandelions. It was really cute…I wish I had a photo of it! We got her back in place and she did a terrific job spreading petals down the isle!

After the wedding, we didn’t worry as much about grass stains, as you can see…
Three year old preschool is done! I blinked and it was done. I can’t believe how much she has changed:

What was your favorite thing to do at preschool?
“Play cars with my friends”
What was your favorite thing to learn about?
“Reading and counting”
What was your favorite field trip?
“Willowbrook- petting the opossums!”
What was your favorite craft?
“Making my placemat”
What was your favorite job?
“I liked being the ringer (bell ringer)”
What was your favorite thing to do on the playground?
Swing and do the climbing thing.”

The girl learned a lot!
The teacher says that she is kind, plays well with her friends, and is bright. She is also a chatterbox (when she should be quiet) and a wiggle worm (when she should be still). It’s always good to have things to work on!
Congratulations sweet and wonderful girl!!! We love you!
