Thanksgiving week. So much to be thankful for!!! The girl picked the portrait for this week.

The realization…
Recently, the girl and I had a very interesting conversation…
I was working and she was playing with her pile of toy animals. She brought an animal to me and asked
“Is this a mammal?”
yes!
“I knew it. Bats are mammals. They have hair and milk.”
Mommy gets back to work…then another animal appears….
“This is a mammal too.”
Yes! and this is where the milk comes from (I thought that she was holding a cow…and that I was pointing to an udder…it was a bull! So, when I corrected my mistake, she grabbed a cow and the following turn in the conversation occurred.
“This is where the milk comes from?”
yes!
“Boys don’t have milk?”
right!
“daddy didn’t have milk?”
no, only mommy had milk. Boy mammals don’t make milk.
The girl got very quiet, and then her eyes grew huge and she realized….
“DOES THIS HAPPEN TO EVERYBODY?”

Mommy replies “that’s pollen!”

The dolphin
This year, the girl decided to challenge her mom by requesting a dolphin for Halloween! Here is our little cetacean!
She had a terrific time in the preschool parade!
Of course, trick or treat with daddy and aunt J was fun too!

Recently, I had the privilege of visiting a student in Nicaragua.
While I was learning about agriculture and soil conservation…
“I think it’s right here”
Guess what the girl’s mom had to do when she returned from her trip…
…yep, search for the marble…
Not fun!
It did make the “science book”
stick mommy, wearing gloves, digging for poop with a pink straw
We never found the marble…
