The girl picked the portrait this week!

Imagination
I love living in a world where astronauts play the cello.

In our world, cars are fast, but slow down for a snuggle. They line up to encourage each other, and they keep the peace.

In our world we have bunnies sleeping in sunny windows a platypus in comfy jammies and orcas who “love” bunnies.
no bunnies were harmed in the making of this post

A Biology Lesson
The girl gave me a biology lesson this evening. Says Dr. Girl:
“Mommy, Lion Mountains have berry sharp teeth!!!”

“They are even sharper than a little dog’s teeth”

From predators, her lessons moved to eggs! We have been enjoying this beautiful book:

We love to talk about the beautiful eggs…especially the “little banana”

“Crickets have banana eggs! They are yellow!!!”
We love looking at how the baby chick develops…

I asked the girl about the parts of the egg…

“The shell has holes so the chick can breathe. The white part is the blanket, and the yellow part is…Mommy, what’s the yellow part?”
We also really love “The Ox Cart Man”

“Maple Syrup comes from trees”

“Bees sting the flowers to make honey”

I’m constantly amazed at how much she remembers! I hope she always loves learning as much as she does now!!!

Treasures Found
Project 52
I decided to try to achieve a photo a day this year. So far I’ve managed to get some form of a photo every day. After I started the 365 project, I discovered numerous blogs that were participating in project 52 – a portrait of your child once a week all year. It’s easier to post once a week, rather than every day… So here is project 52.
I’m a little behind, but here are 6 weeks all at once. From now on I will post a portrait every Sunday.
Week 1
Week 2
Week 3
Week 4
Week 5
Week 6
I’ve been in a black-and-white mood, I guess
The girl is 4!
What a year this has been! The girl is feeling very grown up! Here she is on her last day at 3.

She was very excited for the big celebration! We have a lot to celebrate as she turns 4…good health and lots of good friends.

The girl wanted a camera (she takes after her mommy), and a wild animal party with chocolate cupcakes! At home we celebrated with Nonnie, Poppie, Aunt Jane and our good friends from Indiana.

Then it was off to the Arboretum for a winter expedition with her friends.

Armed with “noculars”, the kids went tracking and found a raccoon:

A coyote…and lots of other critters:

It looked like everyone had a great time on their hike through the woods:

After the scavenger hunt, the kids made a craft and s’mores!

Just to make sure the kids had enough sugar, we then went back to the outpost for cupcakes and a book exchange! It was a terrific day!!
